If you have opened a map that contains labelled material, then you should see the Map Contents sidebar at the right edge of the Viewer:

If you click on it, it will expand to show the labelled contents of the map:

Once you have selected an item in the list, you can press alphabetic keys on your keyboard to scroll directly to entries beginning with the letter you entered.  This way, you can browse directly to the names you're looking for.

The other two main features you can make use of in this sidebar are:

1. Zoom-To
2. Flash
3. Get Item Details
   

Zoom-To

If a map has this feature enabled, you can select one or more items from the Map Contents sidebar and zoom/pan directly to it.  The Viewer will automatically bring the item(s) you selected into view without your having to bother looking over the entire map for what you are interested in.

There are multiple ways to perform a zoom-to once you have selected one or more items (use the "Shift" and "Ctrl" keys on your keyboard when selecting multiple items):

• If, at the top of the Map Contents sidebar, the Selection Behavior radio button for "Zoom To" is selected, then you can either double click on an item or press the "Enter" key on your keyboard to perform a Zoom-To.
• Click the "Zoom To Current Selection" button at the bottom of the Map Contents list.

Flash

If a map has this feature enabled, you can select one or more items from the Map Contents sidebar and flash a bright red circle over the selected item(s) so that you can find them in the larger context of the map you are viewing.

There are multiple ways to perform a flash once you have selected one or more items (use the "Shift" and "Ctrl" keys on your keyboard when selecting multiple items):

• If, at the top of the Map Contents sidebar, the Selection Behavior radio button for "Flash" is selected, then you can either double click on an item or press the "Enter" key on your keyboard to perform a Flash.
• Click the "Flash Current Selection" button at the bottom of the Map Contents list.

Get Item Details

If we have additional information about an item in the Map Contents list, then you should be able to click the "Show Info for Current Selection" button to bring up a window containing that information.

Mostly, this will tell you more about how the selected person came to acquire their land, but this "Item Details" window may also display the other people who went in with the selected person on getting the land.
